Eastman Kodak Co. stock underperforms Friday when compared to competitors despite daily gains: Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) on Tuesday released the most detailed 3D high-resolution images of the foetal brain. The work, termed Dharani, was done under the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre of IIT-M, is available at open source platform https://brainportal.humanbrain.in/publicview/index.html. As part of the project, 5,132 brain sections have been captured digitally using brain mapping technology developed by the centre. The work will advance the field of neuroscience and potentially lead to the development of treatment for health conditions affecting the brain. Dr Suzana Herculano-Houzel, editor-in-chief, Journal of Comparative Neurology, said that Dharani was now the largest publicly accessible digital dataset of the human fetal brain. It was created with less than one-tenth of the initial funds that powered the Allen Brain Atlas and a technology platform that was entirely custom-made in India during the COVID pandemic. This work is the first time such advanced human neuroscience data has been produced from India. The research was undertaken by a team at IIT-M with researchers from India, Australia, the US, Romania and South Africa, and medical collaborations with Chennai-based Mediscan Systems and Saveetha Medical College Hospital.

Doug Keenum Expands Dickey's Barbecue Pit Footprint with Three Tennessee LocationsFederal appeals court upholds law requiring sale or ban of TikTok in the US A federal appeals court panel on Friday unanimously upheld a law that could lead to a ban on TikTok in a few short months, handing a resounding defeat to the popular social media platform as it fights for its survival in the U.S. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled that the law - which requires TikTok to break ties with its China-based parent company ByteDance or be banned by mid-January — is constitutional, rebuffing TikTok’s challenge that the statute ran afoul of the First Amendment and unfairly targeted the platform. TikTok and ByteDance — another plaintiff in the lawsuit — are expected to appeal to the Supreme Court. Police believe the gunman who killed UnitedHealthcare's CEO left NYC on a bus after the shooting NEW YORK (AP) — Police officials say the gunman who killed the CEO of the largest U.S. health insurer three days ago may have quickly left New York City on a bus after escaping on a bicycle and hopping in a cab. Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny told CNN on Friday that video of the gunman fleeing Wednesday’s shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson showed him riding through Central Park and later taking a taxi to a bus terminal, directly across from New Jersey. Kenny said police have video of the man entering the bus station but no video of him exiting, leading them to believe he left the city. Investigators also believe the shooter left his backpack in Central Park and are trying to find it. Trump offers a public show of support for Pete Hegseth, his embattled nominee to lead the Pentagon WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump is offering a public show of support for Pete Hegseth, his embattled choice to lead the Pentagon. Hegseth's ability to win confirmation by the Senate is wavering as he faces questions over allegations of excessive drinking, sexual assault and his views on women in combat. Trump posted on social media that Hegseth is a winner “and there is nothing that can be done to change that.” Hegseth spent much of the week on Capitol Hill trying to salvage his Cabinet nomination and reassure Republican senators that he is fit to lead the Pentagon. IAEA chief: Iran is poised to 'quite dramatically' increase stockpile of near weapons-grade uranium MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) — Iran is poised to “quite dramatically” increase its stockpile of near weapons-grade uranium. That's according to comments by the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency on Friday. Rafael Mariano Grossi spoke in Bahrain, on the sidelines of the International Institute of Strategic Studies’ Manama Dialogue. He says Iran had begun preparing advanced centrifuge cascades to spin at nuclear facilities to increase its supply of 60% enriched uranium. That kind of material is a short, technical step away from weapons-grade levels of 90%. Grossi says this is “very concerning." Iran did not immediately acknowledge the preparations, which Grossi said had begun on Friday. Inspectors hope to examine what’s going on. US added a strong 227,000 jobs in November in bounce-back from October slowdown WASHINGTON (AP) — America’s job market rebounded in November, adding 227,000 workers in a solid recovery from the previous month, when the effects of strikes and hurricanes had sharply diminished employers’ payrolls. Last month’s hiring growth was up considerably from a meager gain of 36,000 jobs in October. The government also revised up its estimate of job growth in September and October by a combined 56,000. Friday’s report also showed that the unemployment rate ticked up from 4.1% in October to a still-low 4.2%. The November data provided the latest evidence that the U.S. job market remains durable even though it has lost significant momentum from the 2021-2023 hiring boom, when the economy was rebounding from the pandemic recession. Trump taps forceful ally of hard-line immigration policies to head Customs and Border Protection WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump's immigration and border team is filling out. Trump has announced a former Border Patrol chief, Rodney Scott, to head the Customs and Border Protection agency. Scott is a career Border Patrol agent who rose to head the agency during Trump's first term. He's been a vocal supporter of tougher enforcement measures. At CBP he'll head a department of roughly 60,000 employees responsible for protecting the country’s borders while also facilitating trade and travel. Trump also said he’d nominate Caleb Vitello as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the agency that, among other things, arrests migrants in the U.S. illegally. Vitello is a career ICE official with more than 23 years in the agency. Romania's top court annuls first round of presidential vote won by far-right candidate BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — A top Romanian court has annulled the first round of the country’s presidential election, days after declassified intelligence alleged Russia ran a coordinated online campaign to promote the far-right outsider who won the first round. Friday's unprecedented and final decision by the Constitutional Court came after President Klaus Iohannis declassified intelligence on Wednesday that alleged Russia ran a sprawling campaign comprising thousands of social media accounts to promote Calin Georgescu across platforms like TikTok and Telegram. Despite being a huge outsider who declared zero campaign spending, Georgescu emerged as the frontrunner on Nov. 24. He was due to face reformist Elena Lasconi of the Save Romania Union party in a runoff on Sunday. Crews recover the body of a woman from a Pennsylvania sinkhole after a 4-day search Police say the remains of a woman who fell into a sinkhole have been recovered four days after she went missing while searching for her cat. Trooper Steve Limani said Friday that the body of 64-year-old Elizabeth Pollard was sent to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. Pollard disappeared while looking for her cat on Monday evening, and authorities found her car close to what is thought to be a newly opened sinkhole above a long abandoned coal mine a few hours later. The sinkhole is in the village of Marguerite, about 40 miles east of Pittsburgh. Jury will consider lesser charge in NYC subway chokehold case, judge dismisses manslaughter charge NEW YORK (AP) — The judge overseeing the trial of a man accused of using a deadly chokehold on an unruly subway passenger has dismissed the top charge in the case at the request of prosecutors, allowing the jury to consider a lesser count after the panel indicated it was deadlocked on whether Daniel Penny was guilty of manslaughter. The judge’s decision on Friday came hours after Manhattan jurors sent him a note saying they were unable to agree on a manslaughter verdict. Penny is facing charges of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in the death of Jordan Neely, who Penny held in a chokehold for about six minutes on a New York City subway in 2023. Vance tells residents in hurricane-stricken North Carolina that they haven't been forgotten FAIRVIEW, N.C. (AP) — Vice President-elect JD Vance is surveying hurricane damage in western North Carolina in one of his first public appearances since the November election. Vance and his wife, Usha, visited the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department, which was flooded with 4 to 6 inches of water in the storm. They heard that roughly a dozen people contracted walking pneumonia while responding to the hurricane's destruction and that power outages prevented some first responders from talking with their families. Vance said, “My simple message to the people of Appalachia is that we haven’t forgotten you — we love you.” Vance has largely stayed out of the public eye since the election aside from shepherding Trump’s Cabinet nominees around Capitol Hill.

By Conor Ryan Amid a disappointing 3-10 season thus far for the Patriots, could Robert Kraft and New England’s ownership group opt to fire Jerod Mayo after just one season as head coach? Count Patriots legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Ty Law among those who think Mayo’s job is secure beyond the 2024 season. Speaking on WEEI Tuesday, Law stressed that Kraft won’t decide to cut ties with his new head coach immediately — given that expectations were likely already tempered going into the 2024 campaign. “When I think Mr. Kraft went in, of course he wanted better. The expectations were more than what we got,” Law said on “The Greg Hill Show”. “But I think that he didn’t have expectations as far as, like, we’re gonna go to the playoffs or be a Super Bowl contender when he made the hire. You’ve got to give him a chance. ... I think Mr. Kraft is a smart enough businessman to give him time. How much time? I don’t know, but he’s definitely secure for next season.” For Law, Mayo’s tenuous situation with the Patriots should be cast in a similar light as a first-round quarterback undergoing growing pains in his first year in the NFL ranks. Even though New England’s defense, discipline, and late-game execution have regressed this season under Mayo, Law believes that the Patriots also need to add more talent around a core short on franchise talents beyond Drake Maye and Christian Gonzalez. “I think the first year — it isn’t a great indication of what he could possibly do until he gets his own guys in there,” Law said. “He has to open up, he gotta back up the Brinks truck, dammit. [Kraft] gotta spend some money. “So, is he gonna give him something to work with? So I don’t think Jerod is going anywhere, because that wouldn’t be — give somebody one year and don’t let him get his, I mean this is his first year as a head coach. That’s just like if a rookie quarterback doesn’t have a great rookie season, do you get rid of him, or you give him time?” Law’s comments fall somewhat in line with NFL insider Albert Breer’s sentiment shared on NBC Sports Boston’s Sports Sunday earlier this week. But while Law believes that Kraft is preaching patience by sticking with Mayo, Breer believes that the optics of Kraft moving on from Mayo — who he said he picked as Bill Belichick’s successor “five years ago” — would be damaging. “I also think there’s this element of it, and I think this applies to Jerod Mayo too: Sometimes it’s hard for owners to admit they were wrong,” Breer said. “The owners here invested a lot in Jerod Mayo. They invested in him as a player, they invested in him as an assistant coach, they basically kicked the greatest coach of all time out the door to hand the job to Jerod Mayo. “I saw this in Dallas with Jerry Jones: One one of the reasons he was so reluctant to let go of Jason Garrett is because he viewed Jason Garrett as his creation. I think a similar dynamic exists here. I don’t think Kraft wants to be wrong about Jerod Mayo. For that matter, I don’t think they want to be wrong about Eliot Wolf, either.” Conor Ryan Conor Ryan is a staff writer covering the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox for Boston.com, a role he has held since 2023. NoneWith a place in the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal up for grabs on Wednesday, Wolfsburg are set to welcome Hoffenheim to Volkswagen Arena in an all-Bundesliga clash . The home team are eighth in the top flight with 18 points from 12 games and beat Borussia Dortmund 1-0 in the previous round on October 29, while their opponents emerged as 2-1 victors against Nurnberg on October 30 and are fifth last in 14th with 12 points after 12 matchweeks. © Imago The Wolves progressed to the round of 16 thanks to a 117th-minute winner from Jonas Wind , who reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box and instinctively struck into the bottom-left corner. Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl will have been delighted with his side's last outing on November 30 when his team beat RB Leipzig 5-1 . Wolfsburg raced into a three-goal lead after just 16 minutes, and it should be noted that Die Roten Bullen had only conceded nine goals prior to their defeat on Saturday. Hasenhuttl's team are in strong form and are unbeaten in their last six outings, winning their three most recent matches by a cumulative score of 9-2. The hosts have won six of their past eight fixtures in the DFB-Pokal, but while they are undefeated in their last three home games, they have lost two, drawn two and won two of their past six matches at Volkswagen Arena. © Imago Opponents Hoffenheim started life under new boss Christian Ilzer well, winning 4-3 against RB Leipzig on November 23, but they lost their subsequent two games under him. Ilzer's team were beaten 2-0 by Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga on Sunday, a match in which they faced four big chances and created just one of their own. Die Kraichgauer have scored 17 goals and conceded 24 times in the league, and these records make them the division's 11th best offensive and joint third worst defensive club in the top flight. Hoffenheim are in poor form having lost three, drawn two and triumphed in just one of their last six fixtures, though they have won five of their past seven outings in the DFB-Pokal. Their is no mitigating the fact that the visitors' away form has been disappointing considering they have failed to win any of their last nine matches on the road, losing five and drawing four in that time. © Imago The hosts will be without forwards Bartosz Bialek , Kevin Paredes and Lovro Majer , so perhaps they will field a frontline consisting of Patrick Wimmer , Ridle Baku , Mohamed El Amine Amoura and Jakub Kaminski . Midfielder Aster Vranckx has been ruled out, as has left-back Rogerio , centre-back Sebastiaan Bornauw and goalkeeper Niklas Klinger . Expect Wolfsburg to field a backline of Kilian Fischer , Denis Vavro , Konstantinos Koulierakis and Joakim Maehle . Meanwhile, Hoffenheim are also dealing with several absentees, including defenders Ozan Kabak , Christopher Lenz and Florian Grillitsch . Midfielders Grischa Promel and Finn Becker will not be available, so perhaps Ilzer will start Anton Stach and Tom Bischof in a double pivot. Forwards Marius Bulter and Ihlas Bebou are set to miss out, and this could mean that Adam Hlozek , Andrej Kramaric , Jacob Brunn Larsen and Haris Tabakovic are chosen to lead the visitors' attack. Wolfsburg possible starting lineup: Grabara; Fischer, Vavro, Koulierakis, Maehle; Dardai, Arnold; Baku, Wimmer, Amoura; Kaminski Hoffenheim possible starting lineup: Baumann; Kaderabek, Chaves, Nsoki, Prass; Stach, Bischof; Hlozek, Kramariz, Larsen; Tabakovic Hoffenheim's away record is concerning, and the fact that they have continued to lose despite the arrival of a new manager suggests that many of their issues on the pitch are extensive and not so easily resolved. It is hard to overlook Wolfsburg's exceptional form of late and if they can replicate their last performance, then it would not be surprising if they scored multiple goals on Wednesday.
