In a statement issued by the RSS’ Asset Recovery Unit (ARU), all WhatsApp users are urged to remain vigilant and exercise caution when utilising the communication platform. It pointed out that over the past few weeks, unsuspecting victims have received WhatsApp messages from unknown numbers, or numbers purporting to be a WhatsApp support representative, requesting a code received via SMS be sent to the contacting number. Users are made to believe that the code is required to verify their WhatsApp account. Once this is done, the hackers gain access and control of the victim’s account. The statement explained that the hackers use the target’s number to send messages to persons in their contact list, requesting money be sent to them via a money remitter. They claim to be stranded overseas and in need of funds to pay for a hotel or to buy an airline ticket. Furthermore, the offenders have also been sending links or codes to these contacts, as a means of soliciting more victims. While several persons have been inconvenienced, officials at the RSS ARU have given the assurance that there are steps which persons can take to significantly reduce the risk of falling prey to these criminal actors. Users should: Members of the public are encouraged to stay abreast of this trend and cooperate with authorities, in an effort to combat the issue and prevent these malicious activities from causing further harm. RSSIn the aftermath of Election Day, Democrat strategist James Carville is looking for answers as to what went wrong with Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign. the Harris campaign spent nearly $1.5 billion since it began on July 21. On Wednesday, Carville gave his thoughts on the “Politics War Room” podcast where he told co-host Al Hunt that there’s a spending problem in that needs to be addressed. “The resistance is going to have trouble raising money,” Carville admitted, “These are burnt.” “The damage that the 2024 campaign has done, the damage this decade has done to the Democratic brand is almost unfathomable,” he said. Carville followed up with what needs to happen next now that so much money has been spent. “One word: audit.” Although Carville shot down the idea of running for chair of the Democrat National Committee, he was vehement Democrats need to figure out where all of funding went in just a few months’ time. “Do you have any idea where that money went? Does anybody have any idea where that money went?” he asked Hunt. To give Carville credit, Harris most definitely did have a spending problem based on the available information. The campaign found itself after the fact with purchases like from nail artist Tahvya Krok. If Carville seems angry and disappointed now, an audit probably won’t help as more idiotic purchases would surely come to light. Although there’s plenty of merit to Carville’s criticisms, he’s still missing the point about the Democrats’ main problem: the message. When you spend the election cycle – and arguably the past eight years – telling half the country they are evil racists, Nazis, and a through their support of a man who is supposedly America’s Adolf Hitler, they probably won’t vote for you. Granted, money is always an issue in campaigns – having enough of it, the origin of it, who it is going to – but Carville is mistaken if he thinks better spending habits are going to win Democrats the White House in 2028. Unfathomable damage was not exclusively caused by spending problems. It’s a problem with the message. , Harris underperformed with black voters, voters, and young voters compared to President Joe Biden in 2020. Democrats don’t need to lean further into identity politics in focusing on what a voter cares about because of skin color or sex, but they do need to focus on what these voters actually want. That is, what their principles are. Democrats need to shift their principles to more closely align with that of the voters. If Carville really wants his party to change, they need a new message. Trump's lawyers rebuff DA's idea for upholding his hush money conviction

Lawyers for a voting machine company that’s suing Fox News want to question founder Rupert Murdoch about his contentious efforts to change his family trust , the attorneys told a court Monday. Election-tech company Smartmatic's $2.7 billion defamation suit regards Fox's reporting on 2020 voting fraud claims. But Smartmatic’s attorneys suggest the separate succession fight over Murdoch's media empire might shed light on any Fox Corp. involvement in editorial matters. It's an important, if technical, question as Smartmatic seeks to hold the deep-pocketed Fox parent company responsible for statements that the news network aired. Fox contends that there's no such liability and that it was engaging in journalism, not defamation, when it broadcast election-fraud allegations made by then-President Donald Trump 's attorneys. Rupert Murdoch may already have given a deposition — out-of-court questioning under oath — in the defamation suit. Such records aren't public at this stage, but plans for his deposition were briefly mentioned at a 2022 hearing. Smartmatic now is seeking to talk to Murdoch about his efforts to rewrite his plans for his businesses after his death. The matter is playing out behind closed doors and in sealed files in a Nevada probate court. The New York Times has reported that Rupert Murdoch wants to keep his eldest son, Lachlan , in charge of the conglomerate's newspapers and television networks in order to ensure a continued conservative editorial outlook . Smartmatic wants to get the 93-year-old patriarch on record while the probate matter plays out, company attorney Edward Wipper told a judge Monday. Fox News lawyer K. Winn Allen said the probate case “has nothing at all to do with” Smartmatic's claims and is “not appropriate” fodder for the suit. Fox Corp. declined to comment after court. Fox News' lawyers, meanwhile, want Smartmatic to provide records about a U.S. federal criminal case against people, including Smartmatic co-founder Roger Piñate, accused of scheming to bribe a Filipino election official .
